TENS Machine for Arthritis Pain
A PORTABLE, DRUG-FREE OPTION FOR MANAGING ARTHRITIS PAIN
Living with arthritis can mean dealing with ongoing joint pain that affects everyday activities, movement and comfort.
A TENS machine (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) provides a portable, drug-free option that may help some people manage arthritis pain. Small electrical impulses are delivered through electrode pads placed on the skin around the painful area, stimulating the nerves and helping to reduce the perception of pain.
TENS can be used at home and may be suitable for managing pain in areas commonly affected by arthritis, including the knees, hips, hands, shoulders and lower back.
TECHNOLOGY THAT COMBINES PAIN MANAGEMENT AND MUSCLE STIMULATION
Our TENS/EMS machines offer DUAL FUNCTIONALITY, giving you both TENS and EMS functions in one device.
One device. Two functions.

BENEFITS OF USING A TENS MACHINE FOR ARTHRITIS PAIN
TENS provides a non-medication option that may be used as part of your overall approach to managing arthritis pain.
Electrode pads can be positioned around painful joints and surrounding areas, depending on where your arthritis pain occurs.
Control the intensity of the electrical stimulation to find a comfortable level that suits you.
Portable and reusable, making TENS a practical option for people looking to manage recurring pain at home.
WHERE CAN TENS BE USED FOR ARTHRITIS PAIN?
Arthritis can affect many different joints. TENS may be used to help manage pain in areas such as:
Pads can be positioned around the knee to target the area where pain is being experienced.
TENS may be used around the hip and surrounding muscles to help manage pain.
Smaller electrode pads may be useful when targeting smaller areas such as the hands and wrists.
Pads can be positioned around the painful shoulder area while avoiding placement directly over sensitive or unsuitable areas.
TENS may also be used for some types of back pain associated with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.
Correct electrode placement is important. See our TENS Pad Placement Guide for more information.
PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE TIP
Did you know that some private health insurers may provide rebates towards the purchase of a TENS machine?

PORTABLE PAIN MANAGEMENT AT HOME OR ON THE GO
Our TENS machines are compact and portable, allowing you to use your device at home or take it with you when travelling.
TENS doesn't treat the underlying cause of arthritis, and results vary between individuals. However, some people find TENS useful as one part of their overall arthritis pain-management approach.
USING TENS SAFELY
TENS should feel comfortable rather than painful. Do not place electrode pads over broken or irritated skin, the head, front of the neck or other unsuitable areas.
TENS may not be appropriate for everyone, including some people with implanted electrical devices such as pacemakers. If you are using TENS for the first time, have a new or unexplained pain, or are unsure whether TENS is suitable for you, seek advice from your doctor, physiotherapist or other healthcare professional.
TENS is intended to assist with pain management and does not treat or cure arthritis.
